May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month. Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs & makes it hard to breathe. It is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting children and young adults. With new drugs entering the market and further research being done there is hope that we can beat Cystic Fibrosis in our lifetime.
Already we are seeing progress: 50% of Canadians with cystic fibrosis are expected to live into their early 50s and beyond, and nearly 60% of all people with cystic fibrosis in Canada reached adulthood. This may not sound impressive but in the 1960s most children did not live long enough to attend kindergarten.
Let us keep up the fight and finish this disease. Together we can build #AWorldWithoutCF.
