The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is intended to raise awareness of the terrible and lasting effects of rape, domestic violence and other forms of aggression against women around the world.
Violence against women and children affects Canadians every day, in every corner of our nation. While the effort to recognize and stop this violence has only grown in recent years, there's much work left to be done. Violence against women can have a devastating impact not just on individuals, but on families and communities as well.
Canada's Conservatives have led and will continue to lead on this issue. I am proud of our Caucus efforts to bring more accountability to Canada's judiciary when it comes to training in sexual assault law, and for our long-standing campaign for Canada to recognize the plight of Yazidi women in the midst of brutal terrorist violence.
