International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Disability is a name given to the barriers that exist for some people because their bodies and minds work differently. You can’t always tell if someone has a disability just by looking at them because many impairments are not visible. However, at least 10% of the world’s population live with a disability.

Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we come together with a helping hand to pop the stigma of what it means to have a disability! Having a disability includes everything from needing glasses to needing a wheelchair. All disabilities are manageable with the right support, and that support starts with community.

By simply sharing the hashtag #IDPwD, we can start a conversation to build a more inclusive Canada. By simply changing our attitudes, we can help create a better future for persons with a disability.
