Tonight marks the first night of Passover, which commemorates the exodus of the Jews from Egypt. After 400 years of slavery, Moses lead by the voice of God, tried to reason with the Pharaoh to free the people of Israel saying, "Let my people go!". Each time the Pharaoh refused to free the enslaved, a plague was cast on Egypt. After 9 plagues, the 10th plague enacted was the plague of the first born son. Those who marked their doors with the blood of a sacrificed lamb were spared, the Pharaoh was not one of them. After this, the Pharaoh agreed to free the people of Israel but not before coming after Moses who saved his people by parting the Red Sea. Today, this is remembered through the Passover Seder where this story is recounted and the trials of the Jewish people are remembered. Happy Passover!
