It has been 72 years since Nazi Germany unconditionally surrendered - ending World War II in Europe. With each passing year, fewer veterans and survivors are with us to share their stories. It is our responsibility to keep their memories alive.
We honour the sacrifice and courage of the one million Canadians who served in World War II, the 45,000 that died, and the countless others who returned home injured - all so that we may live in a free and democratic nation. We will remember them.
